Heres a great introduction to PHP from tutsplus. In this free 2-hour series of videos, Rachel McCollin goes through the basics of PHP with a focus on PHP Functions, Hooks, Loops and Arrays.
Learn PHP (Codeacademy)
If you want to then take it a step further, Codeacademy has a 25-hour course available for free (with a pro option) that will guide you through the fundamentals of PHP in more detail. Whilst not focussed on WordPress this course will give you a thorough grounding in the basics of PHP programming.
